The Place Standard Tool can help to create conversations and discussion as part of a Participatory Budgeting (PB) process. The tool helps you to think about both the physical and social aspects of a place. Fife Council and Leven Community Council used the Place Standard Tool to support local people to discuss and generate ideas to allocate £25,000 to regenerate the Leven Prom. The results from the Place Standard exercise were worked up into 9 projects which the local Leven community voted on. To ensure as many people as possible had the opportunity to vote a range of methods was used. Postcards and posting boxes went out to 20 venues including shops, clubs and businesses. Voting also took place at a local supermarket, 5 primary schools, Leven Beach Care Home, and a session at the local cinema. In total, 1460 people voted and a ‘big reveal’ was held in the local cinema at the end of January 2018.
